I've used Colour B4 Hair Colour Remover by Medichem twice now, and both times I've been pleasantly surprised by the results.
Medichem says...
"With a single application of the advanced formula, you can rinse away
unwanted dye, and go back to your old colour before dyeing again for a
brand new look. It’s that easy!
Although the formula is safe and gentle - with no nasty chemicals like
ammonia or bleach – it easily tackles permanent and semi-permanent hair
colour. It also effortlessly removes colour build-up and darkened tones."
I started out with permanently dyed deep brown hair. I wanted to remove this colour because it was patchy (top tip - never let your boyfriend dye your hair!) and not quite the colour I'd wanted.
| Apologies for how terrible this is - this is the only photo I allowed to be taken whilst my hair was this colour! |
I used Colour B4 Extra because the dye on my hair was so dark, which you have to leave on for 60 minutes. The instructions in the box are easy to follow so I won't go through them here, but I will say that it's a good idea to wrap your hair in clingfilm, a disposable shower cap or plain old Tesco bag whilst you wait, as it helps the product work it's magic more effectively.
After a long 60 minutes (and it is long, I'd recommend a good book for this bit) you have to rinse rinse and rinse some more and you're left with the finished result. Mine came out quite a nice coppery colour, with subtle blonde highlights, probably due to the fact I'd had bleach in my hair a few months ago. I was planning to re-dye but I'm reconsidering because this colour is actually rather pretty. The product left my hair feeling and looking super soft and shiny, which is something of a bonus.
The only negative about this product is the smell, which is pretty grim and lasts on the hair for a good few days, but it's not excessively bad - just make sure you're in a well ventilated room when applying!
Colour B4 sells for around £10 and Colour B4 Extra is usually around £12; both products can be found in supermarkets, Boots, Superdrug and some other pharmacies, as well as on www.colourb4.com.

that actually sounds pretty decent!!
